Oh What A Night!

After visiting Sage Creek Grille, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Mt. Rushmore, we headed West toward Salt Lake City, Utah. I had planned on driving the entire trip, but when I got behind the wheel at around 3:00 pm, I was exhausted. The clouds were dark, rain was spitting down, and I was falling asleep. He had to take over the driving at this point. What we thought was a 10 hour drive, was actually 13 hours! We drove and drove and drove, I was scared that a tornado was going to come our way, the lightening was so bright across that desert sky. We finally hit the major interstate - 80 West, up til then, we had been on an old two lane road and it felt like we were creeping. Anyway, when we hit I-80 W, we had 3/4 tank of gas - no problem. Well, after driving for a while, we noticed that there were no gas stations anywhere. I tapped into the GPS and it said that we were 40 miles from the nearest gas station. Long story short, we ended up taking the next exit we saw, because it said that there was gas to the right. We drove for miles out a dirt road and saw no lights, no cars, no homes, etc. We decided to turn and go the other way - still no lights, no buildings - nothing, just an occasional bolt of lightening. Our car was sputtering, etc. I was praying . . . after what seemed like miles of dirt road, we saw a light in the distance. We stopped and there was a car in a field with its lights on . . . there was a building there too. No one was in the car, so he walked up to the door of the building and went in. It was the Wyoming State Police station. The officer gave us 3 gallons of gas and we made it to Rawlins the next closest town with a real gas station. Thank God for His provision.
